I have been watching the news of late and it has not been the best. The news begins with the fact that we are in bush-fire season and we see ever the destruction that is taking place with the fires. It reminds me of the time of the Ash Wednesday fires that happened a long time ago. At that time I was living in the town of Warburton and I saw the fires coming over the mountain towards that town. It was not a pleasant scene to be a part of and on that night I appreciated the power of fire. As one person has said "fire is a good friend and a bad enemy."
As the years have gone by and we see again the force of fire I cannot help but think back on that statement. The message that I get from all of this is that we need to be respectful of fire and what it can do….for good and for bad. But as I take in all of this I see anew the thought that we all want to know that there is something out there that we can depend upon. That something is out there that will not turn upon us and betray our trust. The fact is that there is someone who can fit that position who can give to us hope no matter what we may have to face. Unlike the fire He will never turn on you. He is ever willing to walk with you and to give you peace for each and every day. And all that He is asking of you is that you are willing to give your all to Him and to allow Him to do the leading in your life day by day.
Something for us all to ponder at this time. Until next time may you each be kept safe in His care.
