It is happening. We are in the process of starting a veggie garden. At this moment seeds are growing in the pots that we have placed them in. Yes, it is true that many have not come up yet, but a couple are starting to germinate. But for this to happen it does require faith on our part and add to that the fact that we are willing to do the watering of the pots where the seeds are growing.
But as I take in the scene of looking at these pots that are just sand with organic potting mix and just a seed in there somewhere, I cannot help but think about the fact that what we are doing, we are doing in faith that the seed will grow. And yet we believe that it will. At first glance one may wonder at the faith that we have in doing this and that is true. It does require faith to plant and to water the pot. But the fact is that we act because we do believe that the seed will grow.
So what is the point of this parable. Just as it takes faith to believe that the seed will grow, so it also takes faith to believe in God and that one day Jesus will return and take us to that better place called heaven. If you can believe that a seed will grow, then you can believe that Jesus loves you and that he shall return one day. After all, with the way the world is looking at the moment we are all needing a little bit of hope. And the only real place of finding that hope is with the One who puts all things together.
