There is nothing sadder than to see a car that has lost its glory. And the other day I saw such a car. In pulling up in a car park I saw an older car that in its day would have cost a lot of money. The owner was still proud of the car and was happy to tell me all about it. But as I looked at the car I could not help but think of where it may have begun its life.
Not doubt it would have been owned by people who were wealthy and could afford such a car. But that would have been a long time ago. And now all these years later the car had another owner who, while proud of the fact that he owned such a car, was not putting the time and effort into making the car shine and look its best.
And here is the lesson for today. Things do get older. They can begin to lose their shine. But the message is that if you want to keep things looking their best then you need to put in the effort and to look after them. And that is like people too. We all get older and start to wear out. We find that the fact of the matter is that we are getting older. But the hope that we have is, that one day our Maker will return, and then by His grace we shall return to our former glory too. What a wonderful day that will be!
May you all have a good week.
