And now the story is at an end. It is amazing how a spider can cause such a moment of excitement in the house. And for the next night the problem was on again. And the spider was a little closer to the cats. Well, it was a little closer. I remember looking at the situation and the cats were telling me all about it. The spider was just there! It was just out of reach and they wanted to get to it!
But they had the same problem that what they had the night before. The spider was a little bit closer and yet it was just as far. It was still beyond the reach of their paws. And how they longed to be able to give it a puddy cat hug! And so when we went to bed that night, we went knowing that the spider was still out of reach and that all was well with the world.
But then came the next day. And then we knew that the night did not go well for the spider. Somehow it must have forgotten that the cats were eager to meet it and to deal with it in a meaningful way. And when we came out the next morning it was plain to see that the end came during the night. The spider was now dead. I guess we can all be guilty of thinking that we can get away with it and that we are beyond reach. I am sure that the spider thought that as well. But in taking its mind off the job it got caught out and that was the end of the spider. And for us the message is just as clear. That we do not take our minds off the prize of knowing our creator. To not do so can bring with it results that are not the best for us each one. Something for us all to think about for the week ahead.
