This event took place a few days ago. We were sitting in our lounge room and listening to a wonderful rendition of a wonderful piece of music that we both do love. It was interesting that as we were listening to it that we remembered that we had other recitals of this music as well.
The Music that I am referring to is The Messiah. The one who was conducting it was known for the fact that he liked the music to be as pure as he could get it. And as a result he was using instruments that were around at the time that this music would have been brought into being.
The end result was that we came to have a better appreciation of what was required to make something sound so special. And we also came to the place where the rendition that we had of this did not seem as good anymore. Interesting, when you hear something done the way that it is supposed to be done then it changes the way you look at it. Something to think about.
