I guess that you may wonder as to what I am getting at here but read on and you will understand.
I guess that the reason for this parable is due to the fact that last week I have lost a friend who passed away.
Yes, he was a good age. He was eighty eight years of age. And it is easy to say that he has had a good life and that he was in good health up to almost the end. And from what has been said there was a very large number at the funeral that followed after his death. But the point that I would like to consider with you is that no matter the age it is never easy to say goodnight. And I guess that some of you may be wondering as to why I am saying goodnight and not goodbye?
The answer to that one is rather simple. From the beliefs that I have and have been brought up on we have an hope that death in not the end. That as we look to the future we can still have hope. And that hope is based on the fact that Jesus has promised that one day he will return and gather together all those who love him and have died with him in their hearts. I know that my friend loved JesusĀ and so it is with hope that we look for the day when Jesus will return and the long night of sleeping will be over and we all shall be together again. By God’s grace may we all be faithful so that we shall also experience that wonderful day and see Jesus and our friend again. Till then may my friend rest in peace.
