In having the cats we have learned so much. And in coming close to nature and seeing the actions of the cats I appreciate anew that the gap between us and them is ever so small. We say that animals are dumb but really I cannot help but think that maybe we are the dumb ones and that the animals know something that we have not caught hold of yet. But I hear you ask the question….but how much do they really know? How much do they understand?
This point was brought home to me yet again this very day. All Ruth had to do was to whisper the word bickie. It is amazing how they quickly caught hold of the idea that they were about to have their treat. They knew what was coming very soon and they were very excited with the idea. At that moment we had their full attention. And they were not going anywhere until the treat was presented to them.
In saying and sharing with you this situation I cannot help but ask the question? To get your attention, what does God have to do? If He were to whisper something into your ear would you know what was being said and would you listen? Perhaps there is something that we can learn from the cats. That we are in tune with the One above us so that we know when we are being spoken to as well.
