On a regular basis I go down to Ringwood where I record short programs for a Christian station. In doing my preparation for my programs I do research looking at points of history and things that have gone by. It is amazing what you can find. But what is so interesting for me is the fact that we sometimes do not learn from history and that we can fall into making the same mistakes. But what I find more amazing is how that people back then were willing to take a risk and to make things happen. And for that we are the ones that benefit from what they did. Sure the end product may not look like what they started out with, but without the basis of where they started at we would not be seeing the wonderful things that we see today.
I think of a couple of young men who thought in 1901 that they would put together an engine that would help to make a push bike go faster and better up an hill. It took two years to build the engine and when it was finally given its first trial it failed to do what was expected of it to do. But the two young men would not give up and so they started again. And they kept at it until they got the results that they were after. But with that small beginning we see the start of a motorbike that is very much loved over the world and that being the Harley-Davidson.
So what are we to learn from this? The answer is very simple. That we do not give up on the task in front of us. That we are to keep the eye upon the prize that is ever before us and to not give up. Is there something that you would really like to achieve for yourself? Keep the eye upon the prize and not look back. But for us all the best prize that we need to keep the eye upon is to know our creator more and more. Let's face it, the best prize of all is the one that He offers to us each one every day.
Something for us all to ponder at this time. Until next time may you each be kept safe in His care.
