If you have read the poem you would have discovered the sound of the birds. But in this story I want to consider with you something else that is just as special. We often see the sparrows around our place of a morning and evening because of the simple fact that we are willing to feed them. And we watch them flutter about doing what they want to do. We also have a bird bath and to see them hopping about it is a joy.
But some time ago I was on my way up to Hamilton where I do preaching in a little church which is part of a worldwide church, of which I am a member. While travelling in the car I would see something that I would not forget. I saw a Wedge-tailed Eagle that was just starting off for the day. Which meant that he was just getting off the ground and was flying very low. But it was as he was gaining height that one could begin to see the majesty of the bird. With wings outstretched what a sight this bird made and what an honour it was to see the start of a new day of flight.
But in the process of all of this I could not help but consider the following. That behind each of these birds there had to be a master designer. It could not happen by chance. It is amazing how we can see the act of a designer in what we make here but fail to see that behind nature there is also a designer for that too.
Perhaps the easiest way to put it all is this. Do you remember the old hymn about all things bright and beautiful? Do you also remember the message of that old hymn and the key line of that same hymn? Let me remind you of what it is. The Lord God made them all!! And he made you too.
