I remember it well. It had been announced and my Dad decided that it would be a very exciting thing to see. And so there we were to see the event that happened only once at the airport of Melbourne. And I am going back a few years. This was the moment when the Concord landed at the Melbourne airport. We got there early to wait for the event hoping to see it first and to hear the roar of the engines. And I remember that there was quite a crowd there as well for the event. And the eyes of everyone was looking to the sky for that first look at the plane.
Of course at these events there is that person who can see humour in all things and as we were looking at the sky one person called out "I see it." We all looked with great hope and then they would add "Sorry, I think it may have been spot on my eye." And so we would wait. And as the time got near there were some jets sitting nearby and they started to make their engines roar and we thought how annoying that we are so close and we may not hear the sound of the Concord engines.
But then the moment came and the Concord landed with the roar of the planes that were nearby. And so we did not hear those engines after all. But standing there beside us was the Concord. We had waited for it to come and it did. And I will always treasure that moment for I was there to see it land in Melbourne. It looked very special and it was special. It was standing there in Melbourne.
But thinking about that moment reminds me of a moment that will take place sometime in the near future. But how many of us are looking to the sky for that event to take place? And when it does take place, what an event it will be. How special it will be and the roar of the engines of any plane will not in any way block the sounds that will happen in that moment. May it be a wonderful moment for you on that day!
