It has been an interesting week. And in fact it has been a few more days than that. And over this period of time my wife and I have taken a little bit of time to watch the Commonwealth Games that have been happening down here in our land of Australia. As I have taken it all in I cannot help but appreciate the fact that there are many young people who have come together in the hope of getting a medal. They have come with hope but the fact is that there can only be one winner. Only one gold medal is given out.
And in a way it all seems a little unfair. After all have they not trained very hard? Have they all not given of their best? And while that may be a true statement the fact remains that there can only be one winner and that the one(s) who win will get the gold reward. But then I am reminded of a wonderful thought that gives hope for us all for today. You see there is one event in which we can all win gold. What is that event I can hear you asking.
That event that I am talking about is the second coming of Jesus. It does not matter if you have had Him in your heart for many years or if you have had Him in your heart for a few moments. But if you have decided to make Jesus your Lord and Master, then you will be on the receiving of something that is better than a gold medal. And that being the crown of life which only those who are faithful will receive at the end of time. Now that will be a special moment for us all, don't you think!
